The 'I' behind the team at Humble Pie is me, Lisa Johnson. When I'm not wearing my 'chef's hat my other hats include mummy and everything else in between. Bar almost ten years at the BBC, I've been pottering about in kitchens since I was knee high to a grasshopper. With no formal training apart from my Granny's wisdom in a 'handful of this, pinch of that' sort of way, I've learned about food the best way - by cooking it.
So from an early start, whilst not quite blitzing my own puree, I was the cook - with not a single fish finger in sight. At just nineteen I ran a restaurant and learned the ropes in the kitchen and Front of House which came quite easy to me (thanks Mum!).
After living in London and sampling menus from all over the world I followed my heart and moved to Scotland. Little did I know I'd be so inspired by the larder right here, on my East Lothian door-step. Farmers' Markets, veg from field to fork, free range eggs from happy chickens, local producers who took pride in their food. And so Humble Pie was born - catering with flavour and flair, not fuss.
